I have chance to buy a springfield P-9 in 9mm. Looking for information good, bad, or indifferent. What do you guys think of them.

Thanks in advance

I own one, but in 40. I like it alot. The only problem I have with it is that sometimes my fat hand gets hammer bite. The webbing of my hand bunches up at the beaver tail area and gets red after a few mags.
Very accurate. Oh, forgot, early on, the ambi saftey fell out on one side. Springfield said it was a design problem, and they could only put it back in on one side. They could put the ambi back in, but said it would just fall out again.
The gun is compatible with witness stuff, that is when you are looking for slides, holsters etc.. The mags are the same as cz and baby eagle.

These guns aren't exactly flying off the shelf at dealers. Unless you're really in love with the gun, or are getting a steal, there's better options out there.

Spare parts aren't exactly widespread either, except for SA, I don't think.

I would go get a CZ unless you are getting the deal of a life time. I did not think you could get them anymore or am I thinking of another pistol?

They stopped making/importing them in the mid 90's. You can get a witness for a bit less. It is the same gun. Just a variant of the cz, but parts don't interchange with the cz. They will interchange with the witness, as I picked a witness up the other day and my p9 slide fits on it, and the mags work.
For the extra money you pay for the p9, I guess you get the SA lifetime warranty and that is about it.
So I guess I have to agree that a witness or cz would be cheaper and would be basically the same gun.
