I just bought a GB and I am having some problems. I have not had the chance to fire the pistol yet but it will not eject the round when hand cycled. Everything looks correct, does anyone have one that can give some help? This is the first one I have ever handled, I know it is a delayed blowback and I am not sure if this is why it wont eject the round. Thanks.

Wow.

You're dealing with a fairly rare gun that few people have first hand experience with. I've never even seen one in person.....

What exactly is the problem you are experiencing? Are you unable to retract the slide with a round in the chamber? Are you able to pull the slide back but the round stays in the chamber? Does the round come back with the slide but the extractor won't release it?

More info will help us figure out exactly what problem you are seeing.

Also go to Steyrclub. They may be able to help with any problems you're having..

I hate sound like an ass, but, if you are having ejection problems the first thing to check is the ejector.

The extractor might not be grabbing correctly also.

How hard are you hand cycling it?

Is the round sticking in the chamber or is it just not ejecting correctly, in other words, is the case held by the rim but not flinging out or is it not leaving the chamber at all?

Why don't you fire it and see what happens?

Is this your first gun?

Check under the extractor for anything that might be giving you a problem.

Is the round staying in the chamber when you cycle the slide or is it coming back and just not ejecting out?

Have you scrubbed and cleaned the chamber?  The gas system on the GB is prone to getting dirty and rounds can get stuck in the chamber from lots of dirt in there.

I had the pleasure of cleaning, shooting, and maintaining a Steyr GB for over 2 years when I was working at an indoor gun range back in the late 80's.

Pics would also be great...

I wouldn't start worrying about it until after you shoot it.

My GB always extracted live ammo without problem. Sounds like you have an extractor issue.

Thanks for the ideas. I have not had chance to fire it yet but after a good cleaning and take down I think I know whats going on. The extractor spring is weak, it is pulling the round out of the chamber but is letting go before it has cleared the slide. After cleaning and putting it back together it is a little better but will not eject every time. Parts are very hard to find for this rare (<25000) 26 year old gun but I dont think finding a spring to replace the bad one will be too hard. I plan on firing it ASAP but work too much. To answer the question; this is not my first gun but it is my first GB. I am looking forward to some amazing accuracy due to the fixed barrel and great build quality. Steyrclub is a great site for info on these guns. Thanks.
