Let's say you have 1,000 rounds of your HP duty ammo. Do you keep it all in the original packaging or drop it all in an ammo can out of cardboard packaging?
The ammo can method does free up room in the safe but is this not a good idea? I also put dessicants in my safes and ammo cans. |

The original box in a G.I. ammo can. This. I never understood the reasoning behind taking ammo out of the boxes and just dumping it in a can, unless it was strictly a plinking/range use thing. Loose ammo in a can has very little resale value compared to boxes, if you ever wanted to, or had to sell it off. |

I do not like dumping "NEW" ammo into any container!!! It just me!
But I did take all my HP ammo 45 as well as 9mm! And re-boxed them! No dividers! No Styrofoam or cardboard tray! They sell these boxes on e-bay. From factory boxes to the re-box! Saved about a third in space!!! Only bad part was now I can get more in to the same space! Which means it is 1/3 heaver as well!!! PITA45

If you even "might" consider reselling the ammo... keep it in the OEM boxes.
Personally, I store any bulk purchase ammo , in a ammo can loose, with a OEM filled box ( for the lot # should you ever need it ) with desiccant , and the outside labeled as to specific contents. I will probably never have the need to resell any of my ammo purchases, and even if I did want to, I would tell the purchaser why it is loose and let the individual decide if they wanted to buy it. Another reason why I store it loose... is because it takes up far less space. |

| Storming boxes in ammo can no need to add dessicant to the can they are water tight after all.1000 rounds of 9 fit in a can stack up the cans. Everyone should have 20 or more full cans. Always keep in boxes! If the ammo company has a recall on a lot, you will have the lot numbers which are lost if you just dump the ammo in bulk |
