I carry a 1911 Springfield Loaded .45 for Winter Carry IWB Crossbreed Super Delux.  I am looking for a summer carry for the humid Summers in Florida.  I plan in the IWB holster for shorts and flops but need to decide on a carry.  I am narrowed to the M&P or the XD both in .40

Thoughts?

thanks

Why change?   Rust?

Weight...  and size of the 5 inch barrel.

I don't know anything about the M&P but I quit carrying my XD because it was too thick.  I went to a Colt New Agent and now carry OWB and just wear a +1 size t-shirt.

Stainless Lightweight Commander.    If you're insistent on a different platform, M&P.

not insistent on different platform, in fact, I like the .45 but the weight is the issue and saggy pants in shorts is what I want to avoid.    Any experience with carry in the humid Panhandle in summer?

If you're still using a good belt and holster, saggy pants shouldn't be a problem.   I carry the same gun (5" 1911) with cargo shorts or long pants.

If you're thinking about ditching the belt and wearing something like elastic waistband shorts, anything much heavier than a Kel-Tec P3AT will tend to drag them down.

Thanks.  Maybe I will look at the Springfield loaded Compact Carry and keep the same IWB

M&P40c would be my recommendation from what you're interested in. I CCW IWB a G27 in FL.

This, I carry my full size XDm 9 all summer here in NC and it's pretty sticky as well.  Either one is a good choice pick what feels best for you. If you choose the XD ignore the hate they are reliable shooters.

1911 IWB, winter and summer. My shorts have belt loops.

If you're looking for a different gun, fine. But don't say you can't carry a 1911 in the summer. How is it different in the summer? Are you going shirtless?

Summer, winter; same gun.

I'm out in the Everglades hiking and fishing several days every week and I've never had the need to carry a different gun due to seasonal changes.

A week or so ago  it was 87 degrees down here and it's been as humid as hell too.
