I went shooting today and noticed with certain guns my support hand slips down and forward. Doesn't happen with my G19 (gun I shoot most) but I experienced it with a P226 and G43. Has anyone experienced this when shooting handguns and how did you correct it?

Yes, every handgun is different.  I've always had a hard time with this.  For me, when it gets colder out, guns start to slip.  My G26 will stay put in the summer but the cold just makes everything more slippery.  It depends on the gun as to what the best solution is.  But sometimes hogues are a good way to go.  I prefer pachmyr's for 1911's other than that they don't cover up the plunger tube.  But I like the non finger grooves on them.  I have hogues on a few of my pistols though.  442, HiPower, and I have just the left panel hogue on my M9.

I think for the 226, Hogues would be a good idea.

There are obviously other choices out there.  Some more expensive than others.  I've never owned a Sig, so I'm not sure what the choices are for it.  Other than hogues.

For a glock or plastic gun, the easiest and cheapest way to deal with it is wrap some rubber bands around it.  But people will totally think you're ghetto.  Or whatever.  There is always the bicycle inner tube wrap for a plastic gun.  You just take a bicycle inner tube and cut off a piece the size you need an wrap it around the grip.

Or there are talon grips for glocks.  Rubber or grip tape.  Or just go buy some grip tape.  Stippling.

I'm thinking it's more of an issue with my grip technique rather than the texture on the gun.

I had that problem shooting an HK VP9. Could not, for the life of me, keep my support hand on it. No problem shooting dozens of other types of pistols. Didn't bother to correct it since it wasn't my pistol and I didn't care for it otherwise.

Tighten up the support hand grip.  Use the grip exercisers to build strength.  Use one of the grip lotions or powders on the support hand.

Stipple the dorsal side of your dominant hand's fingers

Get Pro Grip or some other grip enhancer.  Very common is USPSA circles.

I 'corrected it' by going to the old two-hand revolver-style grip (bent thumb over bent thumb) - partly because I use revolvers and wish to avoid the cylinder gap, and partly because some guns do not have their controls placed appropriately for the modern grip method.
