I have the decock only version.  How does one go about moving the control lever to the right side so a lefty can operate it as a thumb decocker?

a link or picture instructions would be helpful.

I have seen reported that all you have to do is take it out and turn it over, however, I do not believe that is correct.  I do not know of anyone who has actually done that, only reported it, and I have not tried myself.  I am fairly certain you will need a new control lever but I guess if you want, you can try taking it out and just turning it over and see what happens.  All that will happen is it will not work then you can order the proper handed control lever.
Here is a link for the detail strip, of course, only go and do as much as you need to.

I just ordered a right side lever for my usp from Numrich. I didn't know if you could swap sides so I spent the $45 just in case....

I got my new control level in the mail today. I took my USP45F apart. The control can not be switched from side to side. I installed the new contrl lever without any trouble. I did some dry fire function tests and it worked great. So I took it out back and ran a few rounds through it. Flawless like always!  I think I'll get the match trigger kit next.

Hi,

here is a picture of a V1 control lever which also works in the V3. V1 and V2 control levers have similar axle design so the V1 and V2 lever goes to the V3 and V4 and are interchangeable.

V1 CL cannot be installed "upside down", this can be seen from the picture. This means that in order to change the V1 to V4 (decocking only, CL on the right side) you need a new Ccontrol lever and the detentplate. If it was V2 to begin with, all you would need is a detent plate and some black paint to dye the "S" from the CL.

Your V3 needs only the Control lever for V4.

Thanks for that Miku.  I suspected that those who said you could just take the V1 CL (or any RH lever) and flip it over for a LH lever were doing some armchair quarterbacking.  But not having tried that myself or even really having taken one out and looked at the CL all that closely I did not want to say for certain.  Now, someone I know is going to jump in here and say all you have to do is file a flat on the other side...

Thanks for all the help guys!

Any advice where to get the match trigger kit?  So far I'm not super happy with the stock trigger...feels mushy.

Not to hijack the thread but, is there such a thing as a ambi-selector for an HK USP .45?  Also I need to do this myself on my new USP.  Is the only part you need to buy to switch sides the selector?  Or do you need to get something else?

Thanks,

Nic

Yes, HK sells an ambi control lever for both the USP and the Compact.  It is easy enough to do if you follow the pictorial directions given here.
To swap control levers from right to left, same variant, all you need is the proper control lever, nothing else.  When putting on an ambi all you need is the ambi control lever, nothing else.

I wouldn´t be suprised if someone had allready done this in order to save a couple of dollars hadowHawk,
You can have the Match trigger kit installed at HK USA or you can buy the parts from
Robert at
RTG parts or hkpartsonline.com. Of course they can be found elsewhere too, the cost looks to be little over $100.

I have an extra V2 control lever if anyone needs it.
