The pistol in question Pro TLE / RL II-  There seems to be a binding or sticky spot at the last quarter inch of slide travel when the slide is nearly full rearward. on occasion the rod binds so completely that the slide will go out of battery, just as it does when you pin the rod for diassembly. I have of course cleaned it and tried several types and modes of lubrication to no avail. I have also lightly honed the edges of the rod bushing which helped but didnt stop the issue totaly. Any ideas? Back to Kimber?

| I know you probably would hate to do without it, but you should send it back before doing too much and let them fix it. I have one just like it and they cost too much not to work all the time. If you have the external extractor slide, you might get a new slide out of them while it's there. Good luck.......... Not to hyjack your thread, but mine started failing to feed a round fairly regularly. While trying to figure out if it was the mags causing the problem and if so, which mag, I noticed I was letting the handgun jump around in my hand(loose grip). I tightened my grip and have fired 500 rounds without a single problem. Sometimes, it's the simple things. |
I found a tiny burr on the front side of the guide rod bushing and gently polished it out with 1500 grit sand paper. I havent had any true feeding problems the slide would stick in the rearward position and fly forward when shaken or the guide rod was touched. It would even do it without a mag in. Im gonna test fire and see if it does it under live fire conditions(it wont do it dry anymore), if it does its probably back to Kimber with it. |
