I have read that the LAPD issue TLE's are stainless with the blue finish over it.  Is this the case with the comercial version?

All current production steel Kimbers have a stainless frame.  Blued models have a  black oxided  carbon steel slide, with a black finished stainless frame.

Some have a stainless slide with the black oxide finish as well.

Who cares... just get the NP3. I love this finish. I saw a pic of a 1911 with NP3... definately sweet looking for sure!

Not a chance in hell that AI will get NP3 on my 1911.  I would like a Nickel plated Colt1911 ( 1911A-1)
