What is the word on the street about the TRP Operator with the black kote finish and adjustable night sights?  I'm considering a purchase and would like some feed back before throwing down some hard earned cash.  Thank you?

I don't have the TRP but the "Loaded" model. The major diferences are the front strap checkering, adjustable sights, bull barrel and mag well.

I think the mag well and front strap checkering are features I would like. I can do without the others. I prefer the full legnth rail on mine.  Overall, it is very reliable and robust.

That being said, I would buy the TRP without hesitation.

Got The full length rail TRP Operator. Couldn't be more happy with it. Finish wears well, super accurate, super reliable. If you have the pan and want it, don't hesitate.

There is a limited run of the Long  Rail TRP Operators coming up this summer from Springfield (we hope).  Check it out at www.1911forum.com under the Springfield section and the "TRP price check" thread.  Sorry, don't know how to link it.
Good luck!

A friend of mine was at the range yesterday with his new trp operator. I was there with my new to me used xd40. I really liked the xd but I was having problems with the low light indoors. He let me shooot his trp and it was like night and day. The sights were awesome and it shot much better than my xd. I can't spend the kind of money he did so I will enjoy my xd at the outdoor range soon.

I've owned my TRP Operator with the full rail since 2004.  It is by far the one gun I am most pleased with.  It easily shoots 1" unsupported groups at 25 yards, if the shooter does his job.
High end guns like Les Baer's are tighter fitting, but the TRP Operator is very tight, no rattle, and it is a better value for the price difference.  It shoots better than most users can attain.  But that is true for all good 1911's.
The barrel and slide are fitted by the custom shop.  Now that they have switched to different grips, the old grit grips sucked, I don't know of any parts I would say need to be replaced.
If you can't tell by now, I think the TRP Operator is a great deal for the price.  Plus, Springfield will stand behind it like no other manufacturer out there.

I won't bother to repeat what everyone else said.  If you got the scratch, buy it, you won't be sorry.  I love my TRP OP over all my other 1911's and it is the only one I will never part with.

Every time I see a full-rail TRP Operator I kick myself for buying a regular TRP instead

nice operator maddog...  I went with the regular armory kote myself...I prefer the cleaner lines of a regular 1911 and didnt want the inconveniece(albeit a small one) of messing around with the bull barrel locking doodad.  I'm starting to suspect that we have identical tastes in weapons...

edit to add:  lol did you post that pic on 1911.org a while back?  I remember the skull thingy on the knife.

Do they make the TRP Operator with the fixed tritium sights (I think they're novaks?)?

On a bit of a tangent, does SA use actual Novak brand sights for their fixed night sights? Or do they use 'Novak-cut' sights from some other manufacturer?
