I am new to the 1911 scene and I wanted to lighten the trigger of my TRP Operator to 2.5-3lbs.  What parts (if any) would be needed to achieve this goal? Is the factory trigger adjustable?  All comments would be appreciated.

If you're new to 1911's, I'd recommend sending it to a reputable smith for the work.  With the integral lock, it's not too hard to take out, but there is some polishing and smoothing involved.  You can easily go too far and end up with a full auto 1911....

Before you spend a bunch of money on a trigger job, I would recommend shooting at least 1500 rounds thru your Operator (which, of course, you may have done already for all I know) and make sure everything is lubed well. I also think you would be extremely happy with a really good, crisp 4lb pull for a service pistol...which the Operator is...and that if you try a really nice 4ib. trigger you will not want a 2.5 or 3lb pull. (In fact, it is pretty difficult to maintain a 2.5-3lb. trigger even on a target gun, and IMO they have no place on a service or CCW pistol...too finnicky)

If you decide you must have such a pull, I would recommend you send it back to the Springfield Custom Shop for the work, which will, of course, be warranted.
