i had one for a little while. thin blueing and cheap safety.  very accurate though.  i might pick up another one (used) down the line.  but for what they cost, i would buy a SA or a RIA (and have some cash left over).

Had mine since they first came out.  Works fine, accurate, very nice trigger, completely reliable.

Blueing is weak.  I've had zero issues with the safety.  Put new grips on mine, strictly a cosmetic thing.

$599 seems a bit high, but I haven't priced them in a long time.

Lots of hate for Taurus but all three of mine have worked as advertised.  A bit rough around the edges, but for the price I can't complain.

For $599 you could find a Springer or a used Colt, just a thought.  BD

I've owned two PT1911's and they worked 100% out of the box. I had to sell them to pay some bills. For $600 you can buy a STI Spartan that's a great gun for the money and makes an excellent platform for customizing.

I had one for a couple years, bought mine when they first hit the market. Carried it as my CCW pistol the whole time I owned it. As it's been said, the blued finish is pretty weak, but the pistol always worked, which is really the important part. I even took two classes with mine - one at InSight and the other at Gunsite. Ran like a champ and a very accurate pistol. That being said, when I shot it and then picked up my Dad's Kimber, I could tell the difference. Not in function or accuracy, but in fit and finish. My Dad's Kimber could run longer without being lubed up. But his pistol also cost twice as much.

My buddy has one, bought about 6 months ago. Very accurate, when the safety stays in the gun and the rear sight stays on the slide. Took it back to the shop a couple times for repairs and finally traded it for another Taurus .45
Had more rear sight problems. Guess they are like anything else, specs and tolerances. I've never been a Taurus fan and never owned any type of Taurus firearm so I can't really give ya a personal experience recommendation, other than I won't own any. I can/would recommend a Glock, Colt, or Kimber though.
