Hey,

I was wondering how good/bad in terms of quality Taurus 1911s are compared to Springfields and Kimber. They seem to be pretty inexpensive, but I dunno about the quality.

I'm specifically looking @ this model:

owned one...it worked very reliably; had some trouble w/ the leaf spring after a little over 1K in rnds; ended up trading it off for a G35

for the price (then), they were worth it; now...i would probably consider a SA, SW, etc over it

YMMV

Never had any problem with mine.  Ignore the haters!

If you have ~$1k to spend though, go Springfield

I bought mine new for $430, shot it for two years, and traded up to a different 1911. It was a great entry level 1911 for me, but there are other choices out there at the prices they are getting for them now. Also, Taurus Customer Service seems suspect, and if you have problems they seem not to be in a real hurry to fix problems.
