What the hive mind's collective opinion on the raging bull series or revolvers by Taurus? I have owned (1) taurus product. A PT 92 that performed flawlessly for me several years ago. I put 5-600 rounds through it without issue, though I seem to remember hearing conflicting reports on Taurus customer service/ QC reputation. The only reason I sold the PT92 was because I got swept up in the glock craze and got a G17 (Which im still very happy with). I had the chance to shoot a 7.5 inch redhawk in 454 casull this weekend and I really liked it. Ive always dabbled with the idea of a 5" raging bull in either 454 or 500 s&w. I think the 500 would be overkill and I like the fact that you can shoot 45 LC and 454 out of the same revolver. 5" is small enough for field carry (Belt holster) around camp for deer season. Anybody own one of the Raging Bulls in 454 or 500? Whatya think of it? |

Me personally, I would opt for the Ruger Super Redhawk over the Raging Bull any day, it just has a really good reputation and has been a dependable platform for me. However, I also own a Taurus 605 with the lock, and although the lock sucks, I have fired a bunch of full powered .357 ammo through it without a hitch and it is still a tight and accurate gun for a snubby. So if you're really hung up on the looks of the Taurus I'd say give it a whirl, but if it is not necessarily the look of the RB you are going for I'd lean strongly toward the RSRH. |
well i have a raging bull in 454 casul and a Ruger SRH in 480 ruger.both are bank vaults.but to be perfectly honest the taurus shoots a hotter round but handles recoil better.the grips are better ,the RB not only locks up at the rear f the cylinder but also at the front like a dan wesson.it locks up tight.the finish is superior to the target grey of the ruger.dont get me wrong the SRH is a beast but the RB is just a bit better. |

I have a super Redhawk hunter in 44 and really like it. Im not as accurate with it as I am with my S&W 629 because the trigger isnt as smooth but thats ok, Im gonna out a 2x on her at some point this year. As for why im interested in the raging bull: 1) I want a 4 or 5" barrel. Not interested in a 6.5" or a 2 etc.". 5" is perfect (IMO) for field carry in a leather belt holster in and around the deer woods. 2) My uncle's got a Ruger Super Redhawk 7.5" in 454 with a nice leupold 2x on it. We are the two "gun nuts" in the family and we have an unspoken rule that neither of us buys a gun that the other one has. Cant break the rules |
