Apparently, for better or worse, I'm known as the neighborhood gun guy.

One of my neighbors brought over a Taurus Model 85, 3" stainless.  I checked over on the Taurus site and it was made in 1987.  It's in good overall shape, but he told me the cylinder fell out when you opened the gun.  Well, duh.. The sideplate screw that retains the yoke was missing.  I temporarily swapped one of the other 2 sideplate screws, it's working now.  I test fired it and it shot fine.

Can I just order a new sideplate screw?  Best place to do so?  Is it a problem using one of the other sideplate screws for the time being?

Also, it has a hogue rubber grip.  The grip is missing the little 'saddle' that clips to the frame with a nut, that the grip screw goes in to.  I fashioned a replacement out of some spring steel, and it works, but it's not 'right'.  Can you get just the little saddle without buying a whole grip?

Thanks!

I own two of them that I picked up on a closeout on my FFL. I have had issues with both of them including one that is at Taurus now for the same exact reason. It is in it's 5th week at Taurus now. I asked them to send me the parts for me to repair but, bla bla something, bla, liability....they asked that I send the gun for the free warranty. I hated to spend the $ on shipping but I did.
The first was sent a year ago and spent just at 2 months there and I must of called 15 times to get the status.
Sorry I have no answer for you but, I would go online, fill out the questionnaire and chat with a cs. Maybe they will send parts.

Numrich seems to have them in stock unless I am looking at the wrong gun.

The screw can be ordered directly from Taurus and the grip plate you described can be ordered directly from Hogue. Never could figure out why so many people over look the manufacturer when needing such trivial parts. Unless it is a serial numbered part or a needed to be fit by the factory part they will always ship you whatever you need.
