Hello,
Please don't get me wrong, I like my Taurus products and every Taurus that I have owned I have purchased new from the original FFL dealer. I currently own a Total titanium snub nosed .45 colt, a model 605 SS .357mag, a PT1911 .45, a PT1911 SS 9mm, and a Rossi 92 SS .45 colt. I have also in the past owned a Taurus 66 blued .357mag 4" (loved) and 2 of the model 94 .22 revolvers (triggers sucked). That being said, 3 times I have contacted Taurus through their (lack of) customer service phone number and I have spoken to their (lack of) customer service technicians regarding my PT1911 9mm. The pistol shoots approximately 6" low at 10 yards. Each time I have spoken to one of their employees about the low shooting 1911 and I have been told that replacement sights would be shipped to me at my supplied address. That is going back over about a 6 month period beginning this summer when I originally purchased the pistol. The employee/employees that I have spoken to have never shipped my replacement sights and they have tried to charge me for replacement sights during the 3rd phone call. Also during the third phone call I was told that the pistol was made over 2 years prior to my phone call and that I had purchased the pistol over 1 year prior to the date that I had phoned Taurus. The date of purchase was BS on their part as I keep my purchase receipts so I have a record of initial date of purchase. Besides I also completed and returned to Taurus the post card in the box when I initially brought the pistol home. To summarize, Taurus warranty/tech hotline repeatedly lies and I would not trust em as far as I could kick em if they promised me anything. On a positive note, I like the Taurus products that I have and I would and I have recommended them to others. Edited to add that the ambi safety on the PT1911 .45 broke so rather than contact Taurus I purchased and replaced after market safeties for both of the PT1911's rather than attempt to receive a single replacement safety from Taurus. On a positive note, the after market safeties are very nice additions to both of my PT1911s. |

Damn, I just had them do some warranty work on mine. The first time I used the option for customer service and the lady I got didn't know anything about guns. Very friendly though. Second time I called I used the option for technical support, much better.
Kinda peeved I couldn't get them to pay to ship it to them. Turnaround was less than 3 weeks. |

My son has a 1911 and the extractor broke this weekend, Taurus will not replace it by sending another extractor to us he has to send the gun in which I think is a crock of shitl
He has to send the gun in and it takes them however long ( I had one pistol sitting at Taurus for over 6 months before it was fixed.) or they can mail out the part this week and the gun be fixed not more than 5 minutes after part is delivered. I failed my son in not trying harder to talk him out of this piece of shit from a company that I have had bad dealings with in the past. |
