Since I just updated the ad for these pistols in equipment exchange I thought it would be nice to post the new pictures here.

This set is the first collaborative effort between Ted Yost and myself and something we hope to repeat once a year. The guns began as a consecutively numbered set of Springfield Armory “gun kits”. The “gun kits” aren’t really guns to start off with as they really only consist of an oversized frame and slide and some assorted small parts. You can’t build a complete and working pistol with what comes in the kits but toss in a Kart barrel, safeties, ignition sets, plus tools like a mill and lathe, and a bit of know how and these will turn into some of the nicest guns around. That’s exactly what Ted and I did.

I love working on these “kits” and will soon have one more completed that will be a prize gun at this years Single Stack Classic.

Enjoy the pictures...

The guns are a consecutively serial numbered matched pair right down to the contours on the grip and thumb safeties, to the mag-wells, and of course the hand-cut checkering.

I just ruined by keyboard by drooling on it.

I've commented about this pair elsewhere.
And this time I'm still at a loss for words.
Elegant.
Superb.
Heirloom quality.
Simply exquisite.

That is a wonderful pair.

Gorgeous doesn't even begin to describe them.

unbelievable. Seriously, no words to describe. I love: the french cuts, the different blue on the pins, the polished flats, the rounded butt and it's finished perfectly by the solid trigger IMO.

If I win the lotto, you'll be getting a call from me.....

Beautiiiiiiful!

DO you mind if I ask what the checkering is for on the bottom of the slide stop? Just gunsmith "showing off ability"? [Nothing wrong with that!!!!!!!!!!

THATS why I love the 1911 design so much, they can be works of art as well as functional.

I've seen some of pistolwretches guns sporting that as well. Seems to me that somebody such as I, who uses the slingshot method to chanber a round, would only use the slide stop when pushing up to lock the slide back. No need for checkering on top, since I never push down on it.
