So I've got a USP and USP Tac.  My USPC (also in a .45) has the bobbed hammer which at first I didn't like but now I love.  I can't see the reason why I'd need to pull back on the hammer and would like to swap the regular hammers to the bobbed.  I know this can be done but am inquiring about how easy it is for a regular guy.

I am now considering the LEM trigger swap instead of the current SA/DA version.  I am not only seeking a consistant trigger pull, I am also looking to sleek the handgun down for use in a holster.  (Like the back of a Glock.)  Ya...I said it.

Any advice or suggestions would help greatly.  Thank you.

(No.  I am not selling my beloved HK's to buy a Glock.)

There may come a time when you absolutely need to make a precise shot in SA mode with your compact, so *I* wouldn't be too terribly hasty with a hammer change, IMO. OTOH, if you don't CCW the Compact, then my point may be moot.

Swapping hammers is not a hard thing to do.  Go to HKPRO in the forums section then on to the Reference Library.  The are several threads about converting to LEM and detailed strips which take you through the steps that you need to change out hammers.
I was a die-hard standard DA/SA safe/decock V1 fan until I did the LEM standard to light LEM (V1) conversion on my P2K and SK.  After I shot those with the LEM Light V1 I switched all my shooters and my CCW USPC .45 over the LEM V1 trigger.  You get the lightness of pull of the SA with the same consistent pull of the LEM.
If you try a standard LEM you may not be too happy with its 8 pound pull, but if you try the light LEM with its 4.5 to 5 pound pull you may well fall in love with it like I did.  While you do not need to retain the safety I did because I like manual safeties and no re-training was needed to switch to the LEM V1 with the safety.
There are smiths out there that can do a melt on your HK but you will lose your HE finish so you will need to have a super finish reapplied.  My USPC wears adjustable sights (MMC although I can no longer recommend that company due to their business practices, their sights are still tops in my book) and I have never had any problem with needing the pistol to be more smooth.

Thank you Big Bore.  Just the info I was looking for...and more.

I was wondering about the saftey and I was not aware that I could change the pull weights.  The lighter LEM seems to be exactly what I am looking for.  I'll swap one first and see how I like it.
