Where do you get these?  Is Jarvis the only source?

Tornado Technologies will thread your existing barrel for a smaller fee than buying the Jarvis barrel outright.

Where to buy the extended barrels?

Directly from Tornado Technologies.

I see that the barrel is extended with an adapter.

An adapter which extends the length of your existing barrel? Sounds kind of shaky to me. Nobody mentioned a suppressor. If you are not going to suppress it, what is the point of a threaded barrel? Seems to me the cost vs. safety of the Jarvis outweighs the "cheapness" of the threaded extension.

A lot of people complain about the Jarvis chambers being out of spec.
Therefore, it destroys the brass beyond a usable point, making it non reloadable.
This may be a QC issue at Jarvis.
I'm just recalling experiences I've read from sources, they may have it underhand, or you may not care about reloading your brass.

The guys at Tornado Tech do wonderful work.  They set the standard on precise threading IMO.  They put a threaded extension on a 5.7 of mine.  The extension is rock solid and permanently mounted.  It works perfectly with my SWR Spectre.

Tornado is also endorsed by SWR for the Spectre. I have handled the Jarvis, I did not like it. Not enough spacing for a Gemtech can. The can would kiss the front rail of the fiveseven. My tornado conversion fits my Spectre perfect with no problems . I also do not have an extra barrel taking up space.

I'm not understanding the point of a suppressed 5.7  If you take the round down to sub sonic levels you end up with a 22lr right?  If you keep it super sonic you loose most of the benefit of the suppressor.  I would rather have $700 worth of the good ammo than a suppressed 5.7

What am I missing?

ETA:  I guess if you already have a 5.7 compatible suppressor you are only dealing with the cost to thread the barrel.

Suppressing the 5.7 round makes perfect sense if you want to shoot without hearing protection and not try to emulate some Hollywierd persona.  Think about it, how many of you suppress your AR's in 5.56 or 308?  Do most of you use subsonic ammo?  I think not.  Most, but not all, buy a suppressor so you can shoot (outside, not indoors) without hearing protection and not run the risk of hearling loss.  Do you really think the military when using a suppressed 50 bmg or 338 Lapua shoot subsonic ammo?  They are not truyng to hide the supersonic crack of the bullet but rather from the target identifying the direction from which it came.

The SWR Spectre is very effective in quieting the 5.7 round.

No experience with suppressed 5.7, but a suppressor gets rid of all the muzzle blast, leaving only the sonic crack. This should make the 5.7 pistol sound to the shooter like a .22LR  RIFLE with high speed ammo, probably 135db or so. That's how suppressed .223 sounds.
You have to figure unsuppressed 5.7 pistol at 160db or so. I'm sure somebody can supply exact numbers.

Wow thanks that was useful first hand information (I guess....)
