Is it illegal to thread an extended barrel on a semi-auto handgun?  I want to mount a brake on it.

I think it depends on the handgun.  If the magazine exists outside of the grip (and if it has some other features), it might be illegal (per the Assault Weapons Ban).  But putting a threaded barrel on a standard Glock, SIG or other similar auto should be no problem.

Thanks, that's what I thought.  Never hurts to ask.

If you want a 'brake' on a handgun, just get a compensated barrel...

You will, however, also find plenty of threaded barrels for most common 'normal' handguns (1911, M9, Glock, etc), since one is needed to mount a surpressor as well...
