I've carried my Kimber Pro Carry concealed for years, but realized long ago that the inch of barrel I lost by getting the Commander sized model doesn't really buy me any convenience or concealability for the sight radius and possible skosh of muzzle velocity I've given up. I've been looking at the Springfield Armory Mil-Spec 1911A1 as a base gun to send off to Chuck Rogers for some work: Kart barrel, magazine well, front strap and MSH scalloping, Novak tritium sights, 4lb trigger, dehorn job and refinish.

What I'm looking for is a pure-D fighting gun for daily carry and Stateside professional use, not an IDPA/IPSC/USPSA gamer.

Holes in my logic? Options I haven't considered?

What kind of track record do RRA 1911s have? Who does the 'smith work for ADCO? Chuck Rogers has been around a long time and is very well known and highly recommended. My concern is simply getting the most reliable pistol as an end product as well as the best work possible for my money.

RRA makes top notch semi custom 1911's. The one that I  posted is built for ADCO as a no frills professional work gun.

I'm hoping to have the $$$$$ lined up for a Feb purchase myself.

Give bigbore a shout and he'll give you the straight skinny................

If I were going to lay down a pile of cash for a custom, I'd start with a frame and slide that I didn't have to ping or worry about specs.  Just $.02

If you got an RRA 1911 you would not be dissapointed. Those things kick ass in workmanship.
Other options out there of course.
