I own a G27 which I have been happy with for the last ten years. I have put maybe 1000 rounds through it (I know, not enough).

I am committed to the .40 cal (I have lots of ammo and glock mags - including 10 new g23 mags in anticipation of getting a g23 soon). I am looking at getting a glock 23 but have herd so many folks bashing the g23 (being a .40cal in a 9mm frame, kb factor and follow-up shots slower than the 9mm).

I am thinking about converting my g27 to 9mm with a fully supported aftermarket barrel and trying it out and seeing if it has that much better controllability than the .40.

As of now, I only know .357 mag revolvers  and the .40 cal g27 and have been fine with how it performs and confident with the g27. I am not looking for a fun range gun but strictly s.d. and h.d. Also, the extra cost of the .40 cal. doesn't bother me - it is still cheaper than .45 cal and .357 mag.

I am just wondering why all the hype over the g19.

I am also considering a gun that was designed for the .40 to begin with (like the HK P2000). I know they are not as compact as the g23 and much more expensive, though.

Tell me your thoughts. If all these claims are just opinions, I would be happy to move forward and get the g23 and keep the g27 as its partner.

Thanks,

Falafull

The G23 is a damned hard act to beat if you like the .40 caliber.I have one and have had zero problems with it in the 7 or so years I have owned it. I maintain it well and use only factory ammo and it gives me all the service anyone could ask of a compact .40. I am more commtted to the 9mm with mags, ammo, etc. and have several, including both a G17 and a G19 and like them as well. There is nothing necessarily 'better' about the G19 nor 'worse' about the G23. In fact I actually carry my G32 far more than either. Clear as mud?

Not that the opinions of experienced users should be ignored, but you have to make the decision for yourself. The 'magic' is in the hand...not in the wand. In your shoes, I would choose the G23 and never look back. JMO

Hard to beat having another gun in another cal with just one 100.00 bbl swap.

I recommend Lone Wolf but call them and ask them to keep that goofy wolf's  head off your bbl that I am told costs 5.00 extra ,  I wish I had done so.

There is nothing wrong with the G23.  The 19 just has higher capacity and less recoil in the same sized package- but this will always be the case because 9mm is smaller.

Pick up a 23 and shoot some of that ammo.  1,000 rounds in 10 years?

+1

if you already have a G27, the logical choice is the G23/22

I have a couple of Glocks, I'm not really a Glock guy but the G 23 is a tough act to follow.

Thanks for all of your feedback.

You have restored my confidence in the G23 and .40 cal glocks in general.

Thanks also for not giving me a hard time about only putting only 1000 rounds through my g27.

With an AR and FAL it doesn't get out as much as it should.
