If you just want to remove the floor plate a  punch will work fine. Neat little tool though.

i use one of those really small, "give away" pocket flatheads (it fits in the mag plate hole), and simply insert it and push towards dimple––works easioly everyt time

Nice idea actually.  Especially if you have a lot of mags you're cleaning at once.  A bit easier than pushing the baseplate against a table to get it past the two tabs.
