a Ruger LCR .38 or an older S&W airweight (model 37, or other pre lock 5 shot snubby). I was just wondering what the hive has to say about my purchase quandary.
I have newer 638 airweight (lock model) and I do like it. But I keep hearing good things about the Ruger LCR. I've been looking at a few older NIB S&W revolvers on Gunbroker (mainly the 37 and 38 ) . Keep going back and forth so wanted some opinions to sway me one way or the other. Cant get both |

If you can get your hands on a pre-lock S&W airweight I'd buy that.
2 reasons: 1: All of your existing holsters, stocks, and accessories will work 2: They're not making them anymore You will be able to walk into a shop and buy an LCR any day of the week for a loooong time. |

Good points–– I would go with the S&W... |

You can't go wrong ever . . . with a pre-lock S&W Airweight. That's the concealed weapon of choice for both my wife and I.
Both of ours were made in 1971 and they are sooooo smooth and accurate!!! I don't have a photo of my Airweight uploaded right now, but here's a photo of it's steel framed brother, my Model 36. It was made in 1964 and as you can see, it is quite accurate (just as the Airweights we own are). This homemade target has little black 1" squares on it, and the target was shot STANDING, UNSUPPORTED, at ten yards. The gun shot dead on its "point of aim" and all five shots hit the 1" square. I personally look for the pre-1983 Smith revolvers that still had the pinned barrels such as this one: http://216.77.188.54/coDataImages/p/Groups/415/415871/folders/305468/2452763IMG2500-e2web.JPG edit: just loaded a photo of the 1971 Model 37 Airweight that is my "always" CCW gun. Its in my front pocket (in an Uncle Mike's pocket holster that protects it well, as we "speak." http://216.77.188.54/coDataImages/p/Groups/415/415871/folders/305997/2454596IMG1153pcropped2.jpg |
