| You every have a gun you liked, but had some kind of bad mojo attached? I purchased a Kimber Custom Covert awhile back. I really liked the gun, and got it for a decent deal. Well that was one of the last items I purchased while married, and the ex wanted me to have it. I think since she wanted me to have it, and in the end I really didn't want anything she wanted me to have, I just couldn't get into the gun. I loved the gun for what it was, a bad ass 1911. But I never really shot it, and when I did it just wasn't there for me. So today I had a LEO customer that wanted a new 1911, and I offered to do some trading. I gave him the Kimber and got a Springfield stainless 5" GI45 and $600 cash. The springfield was dirty but real solid in condition. I know the Kimber was a much finer weapon, but I feel better now for some reason. Gun count the same, and money in the pocket. I just had another coworker offer me $550 for the GI so it might go bye bye and I will have gotten $1150 for the Kimber that I paid $1200 for 2 yrs ago or so. Thoughts anyone? Good trade? sell the Springfield and get another 1911? |
| I say good trade. But, I'm not a big Kimber fan. The only one I've owned (a Pro Carry) was trouble from day one and would never straighten up. I have a Springfield Champion on my hip right now. I would shoot the crap out of the new Springer, and upgrade if necessary using the $600. |

$600.00 would buy you alot of upgrades at a reputable shop. Coal Creek Armory did some outstanding work for me about a year ago on a stainless 5" 1911. I had the gun "Nitrided" which is basically the same type of surface treatment Glock and Smith and Wesson uses to "blacken" the gun and it proved to be superior for rust resistance. I live on the Gulf Coast so that was important.
