I am thinking of having a factory competition trigger installed on my Glock 36. This is my primary carry weapon. The question is; are there any legal issues with a modification such as this? If it is relative, I am in Michigan.

I only use commercially loaded ammunition on my carry piece, and will only make modifications to the grip or sights, never internal workings.  Don't give a lawyer ammunition.

That's what I was thinking but I thought it worth while to ask the question. Thanks

I think legally a good shoot will be a good shoot, but I still leave my carry guns stock and use factory defensive ammunition.

I would not use a "competition" trigger job on a carry gun.

Any selection you make in a weapon or in ammunition could conceivably become something you have to explain in court.

The instances where people have been forced to do that, however, are extremely rare.

I would encourage you to forgo a trigger job on a Glock for safety reasons. It starts out with a ~ 5.5 pound trigger, which is still plenty light. You don't want to go much lighter than that because of physics. Like SGB, I don't want a "competition" (meaning really light) trigger on a gun I carry because below a certain threshold it becomes a safety issue.

With 1911s 4-4 1/2 lbs is as low as you want to go for carry use. But the "Competition" terminalogy might come back to haunt you with your glick.

Great advice.

I could care less about legal issues, I prefer a heavy but consistent trigger on any "fightin" gun (including my ARs and such) In the heat of the moment there will be nothing heavy about it, and you want to make damn sure that you meant for it to go bang.

I am definately going to follow the prevailing thought here; stock weapon, factory ammo.

Thank you all.
