Just picked up my first 1911 the other day.  I have a question about the trigger. It seems to have a lot of travel before I feel any tension and the hammer falls. The trigger feels sweet and breaks nice. Just seems to have alot of travel to it. It's a DW .45 if that makes a difference. Someone recommended adjustin the sear spring but I'm not sure about doing that myself.

Adjusting the spring will have no effect on trigger travel.  The only way I can think of at the moment is to look at the trigger and see if it has travel adjustment tabs near the shoe

on the bow.  If they exist on your trigger, bend them out slightly and check.  You need some travel.  The tabs restrict the forward travel somewhat so travel is reduced.  If your

trigger doesn't have the tabs, you can order a trigger that does or carefully cut your own.
