When I get my tax return, I'm planning on grabbing a 1911, but I'm having trouble deciding...

Really like the DW Valor
Considering an Ed Brown though too, what's the better pistol and why  between the Special Forces and the Kobra?

I'm only considering a full size

Help me decide!

I have been considering an Ed Brown lately too.  I have been saying that I am going to get a TRP, but am starting to lean more heavily towards a semi custom.  I really REALLY like the Special Forces.  I think the only differences your will find between the Special forces and the Kobra will be the finish and the "snakeskin treatment".  They both seem to be the same gun other than that.

I would like to hear other answers on this one myself.  I am going to procure my 5th 1911 in early February.  For me it is between the TRP and the Ed Brown SF in stainless.

Correct.  Really the only difference in the ed brown line up is the grip texture and a rail (and of course full 5 inch vs. 4.25).

You can't go wrong with a Valor.  People seem to think there's a drastic difference between Dan Wesson and the higher end semi customs.  In reality, you will probably not be able to tell the difference.  If you take a lot of stock in a name, then by all means go with the Ed Brown/Wilson/Nighthawk solution.  But if you want a great value, go with the Wesson.

For that matter, you should give Fusion a look as well, and maybe STI for good measure.  Both have good offerings.  I categorize Fusion right up there with Les Baer and Ed Brown.
