Is that a stainless slide or did you paint it or something?

Just wondering because it looks oddly strange. Maybe just the light and camera.

So that is the hard chroming. It is pretty cheap actually.

if you have that type of money laying around :)

You can get the slide chromed, or the entire slide + internals..

the picture doesn't show the raised portion of the slide, it has a 'mirror' finish to it while the rest if somewhat of a brushed chrome..

Should seriously consider it, if you want to have a carry gun that will resist the weather and elements, rust is virtually 99.99999999999999999999999999999999999% impossible with the electroplating of chrome

Disclaimer though, the gun will need a 'break in' period after the hard chroming, it is a rough process on the weapon - take care of it and oil the rails..

How much did you have to pay?
Examples:

Complete 1911 (stainless barrel/no plate)           $150
Complete 1911 (carbon steel barrel/plate)          $175
Complete H&K, SIG, Beretta                           $175
Complete 1911 compensated                            $195

Glock, SIG slide (including slide parts)                $70
Other slide          (including slide parts)                 $60
Mags                  (mags)                                      $15

By your above statement and I assuming it is more.

$60 isn't a bad price. That is the Cobra Chrome...is that what your is??

Mine came to be approx $150, slide and all the internals, and yeah it was the cobra chrome, let me know if you have any more questions..

That's slick. Can you define break-in for me? Does this affect the Springfield warranty?  Any other affects? I like the no-rust concept.

Break-in in a sense that you have put a new skin on the weapon, it has to get used to rubbing against hard chrome rather than the (yes I admit) shitty bluing it comes with from the factory.  So within the first couple hundred rounds, you might have some FTF because the gun is so tight.  After you shoot some boxes, oil it, and shoot more, it will disappear.  Within my fist 200 rds after hard-chroming I had 7 FTF.  The only FTF ever, after the 238 mark (yes I keep a log), it went away.  Flawless every since.

Springfield does this in their custom shop, I would imagine they might 'question' the warranty if it was done by someone else.  But at Tripp Research, they gurantee everything, if it screws up, they'll pay to have it shipped back and fixed under 'their' warranty.

think of it like, an investment , you are protecting the weapon against all elements that will one day possible save your life.  And it looks badass of course
