Okay guys, I've been passively looking for some grips for my Ruger Redhawk. I really like the look of the factory grips, however.

My issue is that I find getting a good grip on the gun hard. I think I want to fill in the area behind the trigger like the Pachmayr grips on my Model 64.

So I'm thinking I want to try a T-grip because it fills that area in, is inexpensive, and allows me to keep the factory stocks. What do you guys think? Anyone use them? Do they stay put?

Also, can you order them online anywhere?

Unfortunately the man who made the T-Grip has passed away and the company (though it still exists) has had trouble in filling orders.

You probably need to wait a while for the dust to settle and for the Tyler company (a tiny family concern IIRC) to get back into the swing of things.

Did Tyler ever make grips for the Redhawk?  It appears they did

I read the following on the S&W forums. If it is wrong it is either faulty memory on my part, or bad info.  I pass this info along with this as a warning.

Tyler was shut down by Oklahoma State for complaints not long ago, most complaints were they were cashing checks and not mailing a product. Tyler replied they were waiting for enough orders to start the line back up.  Shortly after this newsw hit the web Tyler grips on ebay started going for $100. They are currently more like $40-$75.

This is not normal and the dust will settle and it will return to normal but now is not the moment to try to find some wait a few more months.

If this info is wrong please correct me and I will edit as nessercarry I do not want to cause a fuss.

I've read that they're either slow or unresponsive so I'm not willing to send them money directly but if I can buy their (or a similar) product elsewhere, great. Not a fan of the archaic "print this out with all your info on in and mail it to us" order form, either.

I wouldn't mind going all new wood grips but can't blow $75+ on a set of grips right now.

I've used them for years on J-frame S&Ws, I love them, and they stay put.

I did not know about the current state of the company/their availability.  Sad.

I have been looking on the used market for some time trying to pick up one for a J-frame. I don't dare bother ordering straight from the source until things return to normal.

Last I heard, they were not quite on the run from the law, but bordering on it. I think the state cops are doing a criminal investigation, but that's just scuttlebutt.

Yes...apparently they have been happily cashing checks / money orders but failing to deliver product or answer phones, emails, etc...it ain't looking good.

Reminds me: call me when you're free. I've got one for you and you don't have to send them a check to get it.

They cashed my check SEVERAL months ago.....no response, no grips...nuthin'.

They last updated their website a few months ago asking for people to be patient as they were moving...no  update since then and several people have attempted to make "house calls" to non-existent or formerly occupied business locations. The BBB rates them as "F" and won't take any further complaints. All calls to the OK Atty General have been met with referrals to the Postmaster General for mail fraud. One of the worst parts of the story is that several of the family members embroiled in the inner workings of the business are local police officers.

It's not the money, $30 ain't gonna break me. It's the fact that I hate getting ripped off. I want a set for my RB K frame. I could easily pick up a set elsewhere, but I am a man of conviction and refuse to essentially pay twice for them being complete assholes. They have noooooooooooooo trouble at all making it to the post office to get the mail or go to the bank and cash my fucking check. It takes a special kind a dickhead to take your father's business that had an exceptional reputation in a niche market and turn it into a fucking black hole.

I have the one-piece wooden Hogues on a few of my larger S&Ws and absolutely love them, both in look and feel.

It's not the same thing, but there's a guy on the S&W Forum who's just getting started up in making a grip filler for that spot between the trigger guard and grip. Troll around over there.

I belong there too. I know of one guy doing limited runs of polymer/epoxy ones, but I didn't see that he was doing K frames yet.

I've run them and J and K frames over the years.  I like them, still have a couple buried in the stash somewhere.

I believe this was  a one man operation.  Availibility has always been spotty.  As you've discovered the old man died a while ago and since then things have fallen apart.  Shame, it's a great product.  Pachmyr made something similar, but I haven't seen one in years.
