Hello all, took my USP .45 to the range this morning and was surprised when after the first shot (fired DA) the trigger went all the way to the rear without dropping the hammer (now in SA).  I could repeat this over and over, with the trigger not resetting and the pistol would not allow me to place it on safe.  It is a Var 2 (left hand, DA/SA/Decocker) that I bought new about 16 years ago.  I took it home, disassembled it and could not determine the cause.  I reassembled and still had the same problem.  Took it apart again, fiddled with the flat spring (which broke ) because it looked different than my USP .45 Tactical's, then ordered 2 new ones online.  Anyone out there have a friggin clue what has happened here?
Thanks,
Kev

Sorry I'm typing from my phone and its sucks so I'm going to be quick, but start with breaking it all theway down again and checking all the internals for problems.re assemble and function check it. Ill post more later but do that first!

With the slide removed check and make sure your disconnector, the part to the right of the hammer and directly against the frame looking at it from the top rear of the gun, moves freely. It is spring loaded and should be in the up position until depressed. If it is stuck in the 'down' position this will cause what you discribed.

I replaced the flat spring with a new one and viola! the trigger resets as it should.  Thanks for the replies!
