| Hi all. I’m new to HK USP pistols and have a question for those who might know: there are date codes on the USP40 magazines right below where the magazine is stamped “40 S&W.” I have seen pre-ban mags stamped 02/94, 06/94, etc. but others stamped with things like “1R” for example. The dates are self-explanatory, but what is the 1R denoting? Thanks. |
| The code "IR" is on most of the USP's manufactured "KD" or earlier. There is no clear answer to that question, though if you decide to buy a hi-cap mag and want to use it with a "KE" dated weapon or later, it's illegal if it's stamped "LE only". Best bet when using a hi-cap mag in a post-ban USP is to use one with the IR stamp (or dated as you mentioned). You can find a lot of answers at www.hkpro.com, though, I believe there has been no definitive answer to that particular question. My USP9 is dated "KD" (1993) and has the magazine with the IR code, though this can't be a date code as the magazine was made exclusively for the USP9 and the first one's were released in 1993, so the IR code (if it were dated) would preceed 1993. All this is in relation to the factory mag's, don't know about after market products (except they don't work very well in USP's). |
