So I just recently purchased a USP Compact 45ACP and decided I like it so much I'm buying my buddies USP Tactical 45ACP with GG&G rail and TLR2 for my bedside. So my question is what modifications have you seen or have on your USP's that are worth the money? Match barrels or anything like that is what I'm looking for I guess. I'm open to any suggestions though! I may end up using the full-size tactical for IPSC when I get into it soon so keep that in mind as well if any modifications may disqualify me from certain classes. I'm not familiar with how IPSC works now but I'm going to try to start in February. Thanks in advance for the help from a new HK owner! |
| Let's see, it already comes with a match barrel, match sights, match trigger; what more can you add? I guess you can add a laser or light or laser/light combo if that blows your dress up. If not a HK specific light/laser/combo you will need an adapter rail in which case you would be hard pressed to beat the GG&G both in quality and price. If you would like a suppressor then leave the tall sights on there; you will need them when using the can. If no can is in the deck, night sights of shorter profile will allow the use of standard USP holsters. There is not a whole lot you can do or need to do to the Tactical other than feed it regularly. |

If you ever shoot at night you know you will need some Tritium sights. I got a flash suppressor for mine as I shoot at some self defense shoots and some are at night. I also got the rubber.... grip (hard ball, handball ???) for mine, 5 mags total. And go to the grocery store, go to the dish washing area and get some 100% copper steel type wool for cleaning out the bore occasionally... ONLY THE 100% COPPER ONE. I use mill tech 1 to lube it, especially after a sonic cleaning... takes the gun from gray to black again. Get a suppressor, I went with B&T, love it... you'll get one eventually, the gun is designed for it. And locate your local range and find out about IDPA or self defense shoots, you'll love it. But be careful, its addicting. Lots of great men and women there, but if their not anal about safety, look elsewhere... and its ok if you get dinged about safety a few times, listen to them and learn. Start budgeting for ammo, I have about 7K thru my Tac, great therapy. Annnnd, practice drawing and dry fire shooting bad guys on your TV. |
