So, I know next to nothing about HK handguns. Never been one who liked DA/SA much, but I'm looking for a good compact .45.

I've always liked the look of the USP .45 compact, and CDNN has some in stock. Would this be a good buy?

Is the HK45 compact superior to the older USP design? If so, why?

Thanks.

Ive owned the Compact 45 and 9mm. Great guns, easy to control and good for CCW, I just prefer full size now for CCW. I would get one, cant go wrong with a HK.

I never liked the USP series, as I hated the grip, but I took a chance on a 45c, and I absolutely love it.
It is astonishingly ergonomic for me, and I shoot it like almost nothing else.

Magazines are the same between the USPc and 45c, apparently, but they're expensive, and capacity is low.

Mine has been totally reliable, I'm at about 1500rds now.

I've owned my USP compact .45 LEM for 5 years now. The only failures were due to bad ammo.  The grip, the balance, and the trigger I love. This gun would be my go to if SHTF, I know I could trust my life to it.  The sights took some time for me to get used to, I rather 1911 sights, but that is what I learned on.

I love my USP45c!   I've never shot a handgun that is more reliable, besides a revolver and more accurate, although I own a USP40 fullsize and can't hit $h*t with it.

I'm one of those freaks that shoot compacts better that fullsize.  YMMV.

My USP/cT is the most consistant, accurate, easy to carry, and softest shooting .45ACP pistol in my inventory. The only alteration made out of the box was to add Trijicon night sights to it. My old eyes see them better. I carried a G30 for nearly 15 years, and never thought I would find a better CCW weapon.

I was wrong.

I still have, and from time to time, still carry the G30, but it depends on the clothing & the occassion as to whether I need the additional concealabilty it's smaller size gives me. Usually, the USP/cT gets the nod. I also sometimes carry the G30 as a BUG.

I like my .45C...I'm going to get a can for it in the future.
