Looking at USP .45 compacts on gunbroker or other sale sites, is there a way to
tell if they are SA/DA or DAO. None of them on gunboker say. I want one with SA/DA w/safety and decock. I do not want a DAO with safety. |

This would be a variant 1 or 2 based on which side the safety/ decock is on. You would probably have to ask the seller to find out for sure This is what I was afraid of. I've met quite a few gunstore salesman that wouldn't be able to tell me if it was a SA/DA. They think a pistol is either SA or DA and can't be both. My fear would be ordering one and it be DAO. |

MOST of them are going to be DA/SA - If they're DAO or LEM - just order the plate from HK Parts for $8.95
USP Compact 45 Parts $9.00 detent plate for Variant 1+2 |

Bad advice there. To convert from LEM to DA/SA/ safe/decock is a whole lot more involved than replacing the detent plate. Get what you want first and you won't be in for unpleasant surprises later. While converting from say a V1 to a V3 or V9 only involves a detent plate change, to go from a LEM to standard V1 is going to cost you about $150 or so and to go from a DAO V5 or 6 is going to cost you about $100 for a sear, hammer, and detent plate. Not all variant changes are cheap.
Usually the case is marked with what variant it is, such as V1,3,5,9... or LEM. If a person is not sure what he has and you cannot trust them to give you the correct info then maybe it is best you not buy from them. |

My bad - didn't realize the LEM had more involved than the detent plates. My only experience with the USP was in the V1. Sold all me USPs years ago.
Here's the LEM Trigger kit |
