I will be buying my first handgun sometime this week, I have chosen the Glock 23 .40 caliber in OD Green. I haven't been able to find in any of the gun stores I have visited locally, in all fairness I have only been to 5, but I found it online at gunbroker.com about 500 flat plus 20 shipping, plus the 30 for the FFL transfer. Is that a good weapon for CCW? I'm a fairly big guy so the size is optimal. Is that a good price or can i get it cheaper and where?

You may want to check around at the local gunshows first. You can do better on the price.

I have a glock 23 and I love it.  I carry it everywhere.  There is a gunshow coming to the Reliant Center May 19th and 20th.  It's the biggest show in houston, twice a year I think.  I've seen them for around $465 - $470 there.  I don't know if there is a price difference for OD.  If you can wait, that might be your best bet.

I shot a Glock G27 and a G22, they belong to my cop buddy. I figured the Glock 23 would be a walk down the same road.

Great choice!  I find that Speer Gold Dots in 180grn makes for a smoother shooter.  In my opinion the G23 is the finest CCW pistol available.
