| I have a G22, I just bought a storm lake .40/9mm conversion barrel. I've been thinking about picking up either a G17 or 19. But I may be able to pick up another G22 for cheap. Should I grab the second 22 and just run the conversion barrel in it? Then I have the option of .40 or 9mm (although it would stay as a 9mm 99% of the time). Or should I pick up a real 9mm gun? Any long trem problems with keeping the G22 as a 9mm? |

Doesn't sound like a bad idea, although I wouldn't recommend carrying it with a conversion barrel. The only other thing I might suggest is going ahead and buying a 9mm ejector, since it is slightly different than the .40 cal ejector assembly. If you're going to keep it in 9mm most of the time there isn't much reason not to do that. It's a pretty easy swap to change it back if you want to go back to .40. |

The barrel I bought (from here) included 2 mags and from what I hear the other parts are pretty cheap.
The thing that concerns me now is I just found out it's a first gen 22. Is there anything to look for before buying this one? It's a LEO trade in. I was planning on sending it to glock to inspect when I get it. |

Might as well send it in, probably wouldn't hurt. I, myself, would not send it in, I'd do the required research to look for any parts upgrades/recalls that might have been done in that particular serial no. range...........if it was anything I couldn't fix (frame rails, for example) I would send it in........................other than that, just replace the parts myself. I don't think there's any such thing as a 1st Gen G22, by the way. Either way, if there's nothing wrong with it, and it isn't requiring any upgrades/recalls, and you're gonna dedicate it to 9mm, you should be fine. |

You know, there's some smoking hot deals out there on LEO trade Glock 17's that you might want to watch for. I suspect that for the price of having a new barrel shipped to you, new 9mm extractor and a few 9mm magazines you'll be well into half - 2/3 of the price of a used 17.
A Lone wolf barrel's going to be about $125 delivered, 3 G17 mags at $30/apiece and an extractor at around $20. That's $235 into a conversion that another 100 bucks will get you a complete G17. |

I called Glock today, they said the wait is about 6-8 weeks turn around right now. Plus I still have to wait 14 days for my permit to clear before I can get the gun in my hands again. So Im not 100% sure if Im going to send it in yet or not. I checked it out and paid for it yesterday. Its in good condition, other than the holster wear. From the little research Ive done I cant find any info on this one. Its a BRS xxx US sn# From looking at the info on GT they dont have any BRS numbers listed? At least its not an E series I guess.
Plus like I said its was a LEO trade in, so that was on the cheaper side, plus I got the barrel and mags from a member here for a good price, so over all I feel OK with the total price Im spending. Plus I will still have the option to shoot .40 if I need to, since Im already stocked up on that size. Now just the waiting game... |

Read the thread guys, he already bought the gun.
OP, according to my PTOOMA reference guide, your serial number prefix of BRS indicates manufacture in Nov. of '95. You said you talked to Glock on the phone; not sure if you asked them, but by the serial number they should be able to tell you if it was up for any "upgrades", AND if that particular pistol has already been sent in for them or not. That gun's about 5 years younger than the G17 I carry everyday. |

Thank you ViniVidivici for your help, suggestions and actually reading and following along. When I talked to Glock I did not ask them those things. I was only asking about what I need to do to send it in. But I still have time before I get it in my hands, so I'll give them a call again when I actually get it.
