Does anyone have any first hand experience, a link to an article, a letter - any concrete tangible evidence relating to how a Wilson Combat will function (reliability) in extremely harsh conditions.  Such as carrying one from a swim, onto the beach, getting the weapon full of crap, three days in a swamp, in the snow etc.

Basically - will it continue to function like an HK or Sig will?

Thanks.

I don't recall the magazine it was in, but I read an article recently where the author had one given to him by Wilson for testing or some such. He said it was still going strong after 30,000+ rounds and some fairly abusive treatment, including not cleaning it for several thousand rounds. I do not, however, recall him doing any sort of "torture" testing with it. If I can find the gun rag at home, I will post again and give the reference.

Considering that it is a well made 1911 design, it will take pretty much anything you throw at it at least as well as the Sig or H&K. The real "issue" with the 1911 is making it work right out of the box, and using good magazines, and no one does that much better than Wilson...on both counts.

I have seen a Wilson, Kimber, and Glock that had been in a river for around four months.  The Glock was still fireable, Kimber was totally lock up, was not able to cycle the slide at all, and the Wilson had alittle rust inside the barrel only.  A good hard cleaning at it would be fireable, probably not acurate, but fireable.

Like I said it was in a river for four months, so I dont think a swamp for three days will hurt as long as it is well kept afterwards.

Thanks guys.

Somehow, this topic disappeared from MT - it just now returned.

I'm planning on taking my CQB to the sandbox.  I'll report back after I do so.
