So, did Walther finally get all the bugs out of this pistol? If so from what year on? What are the date codes? Should I get A Buckmark or CZ Kadet instead?

Initially mine was the same way requiring the hotter loads to cycle reliably, but now that its well broke in, it will shoot just about anything. Earlier this week I shot a whole box of Federal Value Pack (525 rnds Load 745) with narry a problem. It's a great, cheap way to practice shooting a pistol without developing a flinch. |

I have shot friends' P22's before, with and without supressors and had very few issues. They do tend to be a little picky about ammo, but a LOT of .22lr guns are picky. For picky guns, I use solid point Mini Mags. I don't know if it is the extra power, the wax or the fact they are better made (or all three), but they seem to run near perfect in everything. |

Picked up a P-22 right after they came out. Was never 100%, but ran pretty well if loaded with only nine rounds of hi-speed ammo. Later on I picked up a "new model" stainless steel mag. SHUCKS ! ! Ran 100% with ten rounds ! ! ! Picked up another stainless mag. Now runs 100% with just about any ammo -- and loaded with 10 rounds too ! ! ![]() |

I have a p22 with about 5000 through it...I mainly shoot the federal value packs from Wal-mart. for a day of shotting all 550 I was have on average 3 smoke stack jams and 2 FTF (the FTF will usualy fire after pulling the trigger a second time... I have NEVER had a malfunction shooting CCI stinger even after 1000 Rds un-cleaned |
5 million rounds through a p22 is impressive. i've got maybe 10k or so through mine. Not a single failure, although my first p22 went back to the dealer because after the third mag the hammer spring broke. I believe AG and later are the good date codes. |
| I have one with the AE date code and it runs great. I shoot it in my local steel plate match every month. It lives on a steady diet of bulk pack ammo, up until recently it was winchester dynapoints (I cant find them anymore) so now it will be federal bulk packs. |

Read my response in this thread, and also look through the P22 Bible I link to: www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=1&f=5&t=609512 Short summary: it's a cheap pistol made with cheap materials. |
