My local gun shop just got in a WWII Walther P-38 ac-45 today.  It is in unfired condition with original finish (some surface rust throughout, very light and no pitting), absolutely perfect, sharp unfired bore, matching numbers.  WWII bringback, no import markings.  The clip has no WaA on the spine, the only marking on it is is "VC" on the side.  As near as I can tell , it looks like a military mag.  The pistol itself has the normal WaA359 markings.  This pistol has no signs of even being dry-fired, all sharp edges have no finish wear, no muzzle-wear that would indicate being hostered.

What's it worth?  I was thinking of trading my ac-44, which is re-blued but matching numbers in very good condition.

1945 Walther P38 with rust spots $ 400-500 maybe much less if the rust is really bad or has pitted surface.

Rust hurts $.

Yeah I would agree with the estimate. The slight rust really puts a hurting to the value.

I recently looked over about a dozen(from the same dealer) with various years/codes--all in the condition you describe--prices ran from about 475 to 600.(depending on yr/code of course)

Unfired is unlikely. To be proof marked they were shot with three rounds with 30% higher pressure, called Beschussmunition. If those did not leave any signs, why should the other shots fired?

Well, I'm only thinking about it because mine is refinished.

The rust is all over the pistol but is extremely light...it would probably buff out...no pitting whatsover inside or out with a literally "as new" bore.

I would call it a slight trade up, since mine is refinished, that's all.

Unless you're looking at it from the collector's perspective, the SOG east bloc commercial P-38s have very little wear to them. I paid less than $300 for mine about 10 years ago or so. Pristine bore, nice little shooter & trainer gun for newbies. About the only real drawback I see to these versions is they're parkerized rather than blued.

Dare I say get both???????

Buy the AC45 to collect, and keep the blued one to shoot!

I picked up an AC43 no rust all matching #'s and marked mag for 450.00!

Get his lowest price ,and like Bob Cole said keep um both!
