| Does anyone know the make of 1911s that were used by Phillippe and Del Toro in the film Way of the Gun? |
Yeah the bore is 45 caliber but the barrel actually dips back after about an inch to 9mm. Essentially they're 9mm posing as 45 cal pistols. Look at the final shootout when Benicio is changing mags, you can see the funky barrels their pistols have in them. Also the mags dropped on the ground are clearly for the 9mm. i think 9mm blanks may work better than 45 as to being the reason behind this. |
Hella Sweet pics! I say .45, but we need to be sure though. All good points made by cyclicyouth as well. |
+1. I seem to remember reading an interview with the guys at Stembridge guns, and they said that the 9mm 1911's cycled more reliably. |
I'm not sure but I did read this: IMDb Under trivia it says it was a 1911 in 9 mm. The rifle in the Brothel was a Galil 308. The bodyguards were using H&K USP 9's. Revolvers were Smith& Wesson in 38 Special. Shotgun was a Remington 870 in 12 gauge. Hope this helps!!! PITA45 ![]() PS If you can see the reloads, them you can see the mags Are they 9mm mags? |

autos or semi autos in the movies,,use partially blocked barrels as the exta compression is needed to make the ejection function properly.. or you get a single shot bang, no lock up and it has to be hand cycled for the next round.. contricting the barrel, allows greather pressure and the action works as it should.. per a movie gun guy worked for a major supplier of movie arms, stembridge maybe.. was a big write up on G&A in another life time.. |
