Got a g17 a few weeks ago, ordered 3 mags from CDNN, took em a week to get here, they came w/ + 2 extensions for free, too, so I'm impressed w/ CDNN from this one time I ordered from them. Shot g17 at range today, sweet. I'm now looking for a Glock .40 caliber, I think a compact, so that would be a G23, right? Should I get a G22 or 23? Opinions? Then for conceal/carry subcompact I'll decide on either g26/27. |
I've got the 23C, great pistol - I called Glock for a non-ported barrel also - Now I'm not cleaning the front sight as often. For true CCW I go with the Kahr. Just works better for me............. |

Personally, I wouldn't get a .40. I don't like the recoil. My first Glock was a G23 and I wasn't into it. I suggest a .45 glock - I like the G30 subcompact .45, but whether it works for you has a lot to do with your hand's size and shape. The new G21SF feels pretty good in the hand, but you seem to want a smaller gun. Then there's the G36 slimline--I haven't shot one, but I hear the recoil is fierce, and I don't like the slimline feel, nor the small capacity. If I DID get a .40, I agree with CK wholeheartedly - I would get the G23C. .40's respond the best to porting, in my opinion. |
Thx for replies. I'm gonna go ahead w/ this advice. G19 is next in line, then. Fact that G17 mags work in G19s pushes me that direction over G26 for time being cuzz of cost, is that correct on the mags for G17/19 interchangeability? Another question, sorry. Holsters. Ya'll got a preference as far as safety/feel/brand? Glocks ain't got no safety except on trigger so is there a holster you'd go w/ over others, primarily for safety (don't wanna shoot myself in the liver/spleen I think I need those organs, well I guess all the booze has made my liver superfluous but still....could be painful) like Glock holster, etc. thx |

I like the Kydex holsters by Blade-Tech with straight drop and no cant. I have one specific to my 34 for IDPA and another universal Blade-Tech holster that the 19, 17 and 34 will all fit in (the 17 and 34 just stick out the bottom). 17/34 mags will work in the 19. But, 19 mags are too short for the 17/34. I actually use 17 mags in my 19 whenever I am shooting a match or taking a class with it. I get pinched in the heel of my hand between the mag base plate and the frame when seating 19 mags. I end up with a bunch of little blood blisters after doing it repeatedly. Using the longer 17 mags prevents this. |
