I just ordered a DW Valor. First 1911 and first .45. I always shoot 9. What are you guys using for range ammo? Does it even matter? What about defensive ammo? If reliable, I may use it as a home defense gun but I dunno, glocks are tough to beat for defensive stuff. My main intention is to just have a really fun range gun/uspsa single stack piece.

i shoot what ever .45 ball is cheapest - usually Tula, wolf, federal alum, or the $28 100 round pack federal brass.

My TRP and Op. eat it up.

For carry - HST, Gold Dots, or Golden Saber

I've shot a lot of WWB at the range. For defense it's been Gold Dot 230's.  Although Ive been seeing a lot of PDX lately.

I go with this.
WWB, Tul, Perfecta, Federal aluminum . . . ate it all.
I bought 500 rounds of Freedom reloads but haven't shot any yet. We'll see.

It came with a rebate for 4 boxes of Remington HTP.
Haven't shot any of that yet either.

Fiocchi 230 grain
WWB
Federal Aluminum

My 1911 is a range/recreational gun so I don't have any defensive loads. Out of those 3 ball rounds I like the Fiocchi best.
