I just noticed this 27 has no texture in the finger grooves. What generation would this be? The serial number starts with BPN if that helps.

I would think it is Gen 3 that somebody removed the texture off the grip.

No they came that way for several years.  It was the first generation of the baby glock.

What year range would the 1st gen be? Here is why I ask. Someone wants to trade me this 27 for a gen 3 23 sraight up. is that worth it if the 27 is in really good shape?

There is no difference in the 1st gen and 2nd gen 27's except the lack of checkering on the front strap.  This wouldn't affect price either way.  If you want the 23 then it would be a good trade.

ETA: I love my 23

it's defintely 2.5 or the first incarnation of the 27 model...it's marked 40 SW...they don't do that anymore

the 23 is less concealable than the 27. For that reason alone i would'nt trade. However, If you do not conceal the weapon I would trade. I have 26 and just bought a 17 becuase i wanted a full size but i didnt want to give up my pocket rocket.
