I'm shopping for my first 1911, and have settled on a Springer.  I am confused as to the difference between the "GI45" and "Mil-Spec".  Besides the grip panels, what is the difference?  Is the mil-spec worth the $100 more?

It of course depends on what you want but I say yes unless you need a period piece 1911...or just want similar to what they carried in WWII...if not...the Mil-Spec is sweet...I had the stainless one but I saw a Parkerized one yesterday with Springer Rosewood(?) grip plates that looked really nice...I should have bought the Parkerized...good luck with your purchase.
