[ARCHIVED THREAD] - When to replace guide rod spring??

Other than by round count when do you know when to swap them out?
I just compared mine to a new one and it is about 1 full coil shorter. How many coild shorter before I should swap it out?
I think I read around 3000 rounds to swap it out. That sound right?

I swap them at 3000 rounds. I keep a log book so round count is the only way I know to keep up with maintenance.

I've heard anywhere between 1/2"-3/4" shorter than new needs replacing.

If it's noticably shorter *and weaker*, toss that puppy.
