Hey guys, I'm getting a Custom TLE RL II this weekend and plan on putting a magwell on it. My last 1911 (SA) had a magwell already on it and I a) got used to it and b) simply like it.
I'm deciding between the Smith and Alexander or the Ed Brown. I see both are drop-ins, no modifications required. I can get the Ed Brown 10 bucks cheaper. What do you guys think? Thanks |

An Ed Brown which required a little filling to fit the plunger rod of the Schwartz safety properly. Very easy to do, And a great fit and feel. I love it!!

I had the exact same problem. It fit in just fine, but it didn't play nicely with the swartz. |

I'd love to add this to my Pro Eclipse, but I haven't the foggiest what you mean by that. (Due to my own ignorance, I'm sure) ETA: You meant filing, as in "Use a file". Never mind.

Correct, typo'd that one. |

Quoted: I'm surprised fitting was required. I have put extended 2 piece magwells (ed brown and kimber) on both of my Kimbers (Custom II and TLE/RL II) without anything more than a punch set. if i recall the issue i had was my slide wouldnt close and i had to file something down... i dont remember exactly but the action was a problem. even now it feels different when i rack it, but it still shoots like a champ |

What does adding a magwell do for the handgun, after reading your post I went to Kimber site as well as the Ed brown it doesnt say what it is good for, I see my Kimbefr pro carry II doesnt have one. Just makes magazine changes easier. In a high tempo situation, the magwell creates a larger more forgiving opening for the magazines. The magwells can also help distribute weight with a front heavy (railed) pistol. |
