I will be going to the gun show this weekend and was thinking of getting a new Sig.

Which Sig would I want for a double stack 9mm?

Can the .357 sig also come double stacked?  Which models?

Well, you have many options.  I think the 226 would probably fit the bill.  You can get a double stack 9mm, double stack .40 or .357 sig.  You can get the 226 in .40 and then get the .357sig conversion barrel or vice verse.  You could also go with the 229.  It does everything the 226 does but it's a little bit smaller, and easier to conceal.  Remember, if you get a 9mm model, you cannot get .40 or .357Sig conversion barrels.  My favorite Sig so far is the 220 (single stack .45ACP).  Try one of those, I think you'll like it.  Bottom line, any Sig you get is going to be a good pistol.  They're so wasteful though, they only make one ragged hole in the target.  MJD

I have a 220ST - and now I'm hooked.

I really like the 9mm because my wife shoots better with that round - but I would love to have a sig with .357 sig/.40 S&W capabilities...

So many choices - so little cash.

P226
IMO the best out of the box hi-cap 9mm you can buy.

Get which ever fits your hand best.  The 229 and 226 can be had in .357.

I've got a 226 that I love.  Have a 220 sitting at my dealer I need to pick up this week.  Love the Sigs.

SIG P-226/228 (CCW option) if you are looking at 9mm

if .357sig, P-226/229

just to let you know, CDNN has some used SIGs for good prices

Sig Pro 2009 is a really nice 9mm handgun.

Within your requirements, I think the 226 is the best. I don't have any love for the 229 though, so I'm probably a little biased.

Thanks for the replies.

I'll be looking at the 226 at the shows.

Price range on a gun like that used/new?

Depends on who's selling it and what they're offering with it.  If you get a certified pre-owned Sig then it'll probably cost you $550+.  New, you're looking at about $699 + tax.  These are the prices I've seen lately at the shows near me.  Personally, I try to find the small dealers that are selling non-certified used Sigs.  My 220 is a former LE gun.  When I bought it there was some holster wear, but the bore was bright and very clean.  The gun was very tight.  I think it probably had less than 500 rounds through it.  It was built in December of '97.  Price out the door was $490 w/1 mag and no case.  Sigs are very durable pieces and tend to last forever.  Even when they get old and clanky they're still accurate as the day they were built.  At least, that's what I've seen, I'm sure there are exceptions.  Good luck on your first Sig, you'll probably get another in short order.  MJD

If you're looking at a 9, go P226.
But give the P220 (.45) a look, I just bought a used one and I love it.
If you buy one, don't be suprised if you find yourself hooked on them.....

As I said earlier I have a SIG 220ST.  That's why I want a smaller brother to the 220.

I went to CTD! and handled a 226.

Definitely the way I'm going.

May have to buy 2 226s.  One in 9x19 and one in .357 sig.

Get a Jennings or a Hi-Point. Much higher quality in my opinion.

Sorry I could not help my self. LOL

I alternate between my P220-R and P226 for CCW.  (Both have night sites).

Can't go wrong with either... or BOTH!
