| So Saturday I'm buying a sub compact single stack 9mm I'm leaning towards a p290 but I'm really undecided so please help. The shop I'm getting it from has almost all sub singles in stock so I have many choices let me know what you think. |

I own a 2005 vintage Kahr PM9094NA and it has been a great little pistol. I would also look at the S&W Shield as I hear good things about it. I have owned twp P2000Sk pistols and as with all H&K pistols they are built like a tank and as such are heavy. Some people also have issues with their trigger systems. YMMV
Edit: I carry my G26 most of the time and the fact that I can have 10 rounds with a 12 or 15 round backup mag makes it worth it to me. It carrier very well at 3:30-4:00 in a Fist #1AK "thin kydex" holster. I only carry the PM9 in very hot weather where minimal clothing is required. |

From what i gather on these thread, of the ones most mentioned (below), the p290/lc9/nano
have the worst triggers, The xds and shield have suffered recalls that effected trigger pull aversely, And the most of them are not much smaller than a g26. I'd get the kahr or a glock 26n or both Kahr cm9 Sig p290 S&w shield Springfield Xds G26 Beretta Nano Ruger lc9 Keltec pf9 |

I'll put in a vote for the Shield. I have one that I bought a few weeks ago and have 300-350 rds through it. No problems at all and shoots very well. Although it is as tall and long as the Glock 26, it is much thinner and carries and hides MUCH better. It is too big for pocket carry in most pockets, though, if that matters for you. It is excellent for IWB with a good holster. The safety seems to be an issue for some, but I can tell you that the safety on mine is so stiff and tight when applying it that I honestly can't ever see it going on accidentally. I carry it off and treat it like a Glock. I'd highly recommend one for CCW.
I have also shot a friend's Kahr CW40 (I think, the sub-compact value line .40). Very low recoil for a .40 and I can only imagine that a 9mm would be better. The trigger was nice, albeit long, very much like a snubbie revolver but lighter. Big advantage is no additional safety of any kind, just point and shoot. It should be enough for pocket carry in most pockets, and it should be even better than the Shield for IWB because of the similar thickness and shorter butt, if size matters that much. I put 1 magazine (7 rd extended magazine) through another friend's Springfield XDs in .45. Very heavy recoil, although the gun handled and shot very well. I liked it enough that, if I couldn't find a Shield in 9mm, a very close second choice would have been an XDs in 9mm. The only real drawback with the XDs is the cost; new, they retail for about $100 more than a Shield, if cost is an issue for you. Dimensions are almost identical to the Shield, so I can't see it fitting in most pockets, but again it should be excellent for IWB. It has a grip safety and I have read that, if you grab the gun very fast, your hand can miss the safety and you have a dead trigger. Is it a big issue? I don't know, like I said, I only fired 7 rds through one, but it is something to keep in mind. Good luck and let us know what you pick. Bub75 |

Wow lots of kahr love here, so any negatives on the kahrs. Yeah, I think they are flimsy, don't hold up to enough use to become proficient with them, and are very picky with ammo. They also have a mile long trigger (albeit very smooth). If you carry a spare mag, expect rounds to pop out all the time. Be very careful with the springs on reassembly, a little off and you'll be ordering replacement parts. (Like I said, flimsy and not robust). Oh yeah, they have a 200 round break in before Kahr wants to hear of any problems. So if you buy a lemon, thats $60 of 9mm plus range time you'd have to go through before sending it in. But others have perfectly good experience with them. Their opinions and experiences are as good as mine. |

Quoted: OP find yourself one of these......S&W 3913 or 3953.... It's not much bigger than the little pocket pistols others here are talking about, but it shoots and handles like a much bigger gun. S&W stopped production back in 2009, but they made them for 19 years, so there are plenty of them out there if you look for them. S&W still services them too. I'm not a big fan of the little micro semi-autos. In my opinion, these are a perfect blend of size, performance, and reliability. http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa296/mpieroni/IMG_0707.jpg Here is the very similar S&W 3953 (Double Action Only version of 3913 The trigger is similar to a striker fired Glock or M&P) next to a S&W Shield http://www.hunt101.com/data/500/medium/ShieldGlockS_W_006.JPG |

I love my SIG p290. Trust my life with it. +1. I carry a P290rs. The mep sights alone make it a better value than the CM9. It is a well made pistol and shoots very accurately. Trigger does take a bit to smooth up but it really is not noticeable while shooting. |

Looks like only one mention of the Walther PPS, so I'll give a "+1".
Very good size for carry (very slim). 6/7/8 round mags so you can tailor your grip size/ concealability/capacity. Fantastic reliability. I trust it to function absolutely. Surprisingly accurate for such a small pistol. Surprising, really, shoot one. I can't really think of any other criteria for a carry pistol, the PPS is excellent in all areas. If anything happened to mine I would absolutely, 100% guarentee, no foolin', replace it with another Walther PPS. |
