You need to provide a little more information before we can help you. What do you plan to do with it?

it would depend on what youre going for in your "collection".  are you collecting a particular caliber, style, maker or??????????

but from your choice
> i wouldnt consider the G17 since they are soooooo plentyful and you can get one anytime.
> I wouldnt get the Ruger 44 , 50th anniversary. either, UNLESS youre going for commeratives.  Also, commeratives usually dont increase in value that much.  you can also find other Ruger 44s that will probably be cheaper too.
> Kimber 1911.  still making them so no problem with finding them.
> SA 1911.  dont know about it.  if its off the shelf type 1911, then wait.
> Other....this opens alot of possibliites.  if youre looking for something rare or no longer mfg, then this is where your "collection" may benefit.

Does not matter every collection can always use another HK..

It depends on the useage; if the pistoll will be a "Safe Queen" or a "Shooter".

"Safe Queen" (seldom shot, mostly fondled) - HK Mark 23

"Shooter" - (Fired often) - A Glock 17 (plenty of cheap ammo)

In between - A Springfield 1911 Trophy.

Is all a matter of how ofter you shoot.

That is quite a selection.  If you are going to hunt with it I'd get the Ruger 44.  If you are going to shoot it I'd go Glock 17 all the way.  If you want to talk about it and use it as an investment one of the 1911s would fit the bill.

Do the Springfields not shoot or something? Are they just expensive mantlepieces?

By collection do you just mean having a bunch of guns to throw lead down the range or are you planing to use these guns in a SHTF event? If you are doing the former you want an arsenal, which means a standarized caliber and maybe magazines.  Go with the Glock.

What a load of crap 1911s are a shooters gun same with HKs even the MK23.If your looking to collect something maybe your in the wrong hobby. to me it looks like you want a 1911 because you listed two. go to a range rent a glock and 1911 buy the one you like best.

Other.  Get a Hi-Point!!

Like everyone else has said, its hard to suggest anything when nobody knows what you want to do with it.  Just buy one, and then the next and the next until you have all of them on the list.  Then sell the ones you dont like.

I voted "Other"  but seeing how you didn't tell us what you have or what you are looking for, I'm not going to tell you what "Other" is! That's a shame too because the "Other" I have in mind would be perfect for your "collection" and I know where you can get one for half of what its worth!!!

Springfields & Kimbers shoot fine but the performance increase over a Glock is no where near the cost increase over a Glock.  If I was going to shoot the crap out so something it would be a $450 Glock with cheap 9mm ammo which costs about half of what .45acp does before I chew up an $800+ Springfield.   1911s have numerous positive atributes but the fact of the mater is that they are antiquated technology and very few are as reliable as a factory Glock.

I hate Glocks, and I wouldn't buy one simply because it's not a 1911. I agree on cost, but I'd rather risk the rumored reliability issues of a 1911 than to have a pistol I wasn't comfortable or confident with.

Go shoot the pistols you're considering. The only way to know what pistol you want is by shooting it.
