What do you guys think of the drop in front straps from Wilson Combat? Will they stay on the gun? Is skateboard tape any better? |
| I had one a while back, I had to use double sided tape to keep it in place. I also used skateboard tape which worked equally well. The only thing with the tape I used though is it lost some of its texturing after a while. The wilson piece (being metal) never will.... |
| I used them for a while and liked them. If you're trying to decide if you want a true custom 1911, this is a great way to figure out if you like checkering. Installed correctly (and it is possible to do it incorrectly), with good fitting grips, they are pretty stable. I used them until I took a 4 day class and discovered that they cut up my hand to the point where I wasn't gripping properly due to the pain. I'm told that building up calouses will cure that, but I took them off and now prefer plain front straps. |
